Big Tech Is Racing to Ship AI Agents. Gaming Already Wrote the Rulebook.
While Silicon Valley races to deploy the next wave of autonomous AI systems, the gaming industry has already quietly crossed the frontier. From NPCs that independently plan civilizations to AI avatars managing their own crypto wallets, web3 gaming has evolved into the ultimate live laboratory for autonomous economic actors.
To ensure this technology scales safely, intelligently, and efficiently, the Blockchain Game Alliance (BGA) and Deloitte are proud to officially announce the launch of the AI & Agentics Council. Joining us as foundational launch partners are industry leaders Xsolla, DMCC, SKALE, and WAM.
Why Gaming? The Ultimate AI Testing Ground
As major tech companies push autonomous agents into the wild, the definition of what constitutes an “agent” remains dangerously imprecise. True agentic AI is not a chatbot that simply suggests text; it is an integrated system capable of goal-directed, multi-step action in a real environment with real economic consequences.
Games provide the perfect, unforgiving test beds for these systems because they combine:
- Real-time responsiveness requirements that challenge the latency of complex reasoning models.
- Persistent virtual world economies that handle real-world financial stakes and capital.
- Hyper-rational machine actors that optimize 24/7 without fatigue, stress-testing our digital financial rails.
The industry moved faster than the conversation. Prior to this launch, the BGA published a comprehensive, 120-page dedicated industry report—Agentic AI in Gaming and the Emerging Digital Economy—co-authored with Deloitte, ADGM, and Teranode. Downloaded more than 1,200 times since its release, this framework addresses the vital questions product managers, developers, and legal counsels must face over the next 18 to 36 months.
Today, the AI & Agentics Council formalizes that research into shared, enforceable industry standards.
The Council Structure and Legality
Established as an Autonomous Advisory Subsidiary operating within the existing corporate and legal structure of the Blockchain Game Alliance, the Council is designed to bring structured oversight, research leadership, and regulatory clarity to this emerging field. The Council’s authority rests entirely on the credibility of its membership, the rigour of its research, and the voluntary adoption of its frameworks by the industry it serves.
Driving the Ecosystem Forward Through Three Core Pillars Operating as an active working body rather than a ceremonial panel, the Council’s work is organised into three distinct operational streams:
- The Research Engine: Responsible for the Council’s primary intellectual output, delivering authoritative, semi-annual industry research reports on the state of agentic artificial intelligence within gaming and adjacent digital sectors.
- The Regulatory Advisory Stream: Dedicated to producing model legal frameworks, regulatory sandbox proposals, and compliance guidance documents tailored for cross-border jurisdictions.
- Ecosystem Alignment: Focused on establishing unified, code-level definitions and interoperability frameworks across the gaming industry, including defining the protocols by which autonomous AI agents may securely interact with blockchain-based smart contracts.
Inaugural Annual Summit at Gamescom 2026 To turn this framework into immediate action, the Council will host its inaugural Annual Summit as a dedicated side event next month during Gamescom. This gathering will move beyond theoretical discussions to showcase concrete, hands-on demonstrations from leading builders actively shipping in the AI agentic space.
Media, developers, and industry stakeholders are invited to register for the Gamescom showcase here: https://luma.com/sf3f90f7
