The Wanderers, NFT Collection, Strategic Collaborations and Great Rogue-Like Action
An interview with Co-founder and COO Jenna Greenfield
It would be great to know a bit more about you and how you came to found the Wanderers?
I am an entrepreneur and have spent my career building tech and cannabis start-ups in San Francisco. I started as a Certified Public Accountant, but at heart, I have always been a dreamer. I love creating in new industries, which led me to crypto and NFTs. It is the perfect mix of finance, technology, community, and art.
In 2020, the cannabis industry hit a ceiling, and it became difficult for most operators to grow. I decided to take time off and wander the world. (I highly recommend this to anyone who is able to do so!)
I personally started getting interested in crypto, went all in on Ethereum, and then NFT summer hit in 2021. I fell for Cryptoadz. My friend introduced me to Nick, a super-talented creator who had just launched the OG Wanderers NFT collection. The vibes of the art and world-building potential pulled me in. We immediately hit it off with complimentary skills and formed WanderLabs.
Can you share more about the game and ecosystem for readers who don’t yet know?
Wanderers started as an NFT collection and has grown into a sprawling universe of action, adventure, and community. Our ecosystem tells a story in unique ways through music albums, NFTs, short films, comics, and games. Our debut game, The Wanderers, is a rogue-like adventure game with a trading card twist that is now available in early access on Epic Games. Sci-fi fans can jump into our platform to participate in community world-building and meta-games as we evolve the ecosystem together.
You recently launched $WANDER, a new token that aims to shape the future of entertainment and power the Wanderers universe. How will players be able to use the token, and how will it enhance their gaming experience?
Today, players can stake their claim in the great galactic odyssey to start earning Dark Matter- a consumable XP system that unfolds throughout the season. Players are also able to purchase RAM trading cards to improve their in-game skills and participate in weekly challenges. $WANDER marks a key milestone in the decentralization of our universe and opens the door to new possibilities. It is not just a meme coin or gaming coin. It is a universe coin that will power the future of gaming and entertainment, beginning with the Wanderers. You have a really exciting upcoming collaboration with Treasure. I’d love to hear more about it. What can we expect to see?
We recently landed a partnership with Treasure and are incredibly grateful to be building with such a smart and passionate team. Up until this point, our game has been fully off-chain as we iterate on the core loop and mechanics with feedback from our early users. We are excited to launch on Treasure’s newly launched ZK chain with a variety of mechanisms. RAM trading cards will become NFTs, enabling our players to own, trade, and build their decks. WANDERDrop2 is coming to Treasure alongside the integration of game rewards and in-app purchases. Gaming season is just getting started!
